  3. Once an SP bastion, why an entire Muslim village did not vote

V llage in Etah boycotted polls because of Kalyan, could not find a ‘secular candidate’
A panchayat of over 17,000 Muslim voters on Thursday did not go to vote. They had several reasons for not voting—lack of development, consistent neglect from politicians—but the factor that clinched it was Kalyan Singh.
Bhargain, which has the highest Muslim population in Etah (50,000), traditionally voted for the Samajwadi Party, the villagers claim. But this time, they say, they did not have a choice.
The BSP candidate this time is the man they voted as an SP candidate in 2004, Devendra Yadav. Congress candidate Mahadeepak Singh Shakya was once with the BJP. And “no Muslim wants to vote for the BJP candidate Shyam Singh Shakya.” And the party that they backed brought in Kalyan Singh as Independent.
“The boycott call was not a sudden decision. We sat together and held a long discussion but we could not find any candidate who is fit to get our votes,” said Captain (Retired) Abdul Latif. According to him, all major political parties had fielded only turncoats in the constituency. “This party brought Kalyan Singh for us in place of Devendra (who was elected as an SP candidate in 2004 and crossed over to the BSP). We were already unhappy with Devendra because of his failure to fulfil his promise for development of our village,” said Musa Khan. According to him,the villagers were given two options—either to select a candidate whose secular credential is doubtful or a candidate whois consideredtobe“anti-development”. “So the best way we found was the boycott of elections,”hesaid.

Though they boycotted the polls, the villagers hope kalyanSingh will visit them if he is elected.“IfKalyan wins,we hope he would visit our place and make an announcement to build a mosque(inBhargain). This would make us believe that he has really undergone transformation after his bonhomie with theMulayam,” saidLatif.

  5. ASAK,

firstly alot of thanks to Mr Bhatti for create the blog.......really it is a source of Ideas and helping hand for development of bhargain.....but pls change its punchline that "This is a blog for literate class of Bhargain.".....pls change and write it that "This is a blog for people of Bhargain." According to my point of view as a co-ordinator of "SOCIAL & EDUCATIONAL SUMMIT 2009" there is only requirement of management of our raw materials(our children) and infrastructures (schools & college).Only it will change our society......secondly we improve our primary health system.

  7. The only way to develop this town is through ur personal sacrifice. Is any body ready for that? I hope no. We tried to elect a honest dedicated well known figure and of course a short cut to achieve our goal but most unfortunately the so called literate class did not come out suupporting our cause. Literate means be bold enough to call a spade a spade, other wise these summits are not going to help.

  14. Dear Bhatti,

Mr Ballu was illeterate man who give his service for bhargain in the setup of ballupur halt.....but after him nobody is care taker of our railway station....Currently Mr shafi is new man who serve the community in terms of transportation.....why u r hiding yr identity? i hope u are also a better figure who can give his services for the development of bhargain in any terms.
Dear Brother, Literate people always cheat the people of bhargain.....yahan naam lena thik nahi hai, "baat niklegi badi door talak jayegi"
i respect yr thought but i think u have a little bit knowledge about bhargain's plitics in terms of mohallabazi, khandaanbaazi and other factors.
i hope u will think and do better.

If I disclose my identity u may stop criticizing people which ultimately will not serve the purpose. Believe me your criticism will always be taken in the right spirit.

  18. Let us make our facts correct. In 1958 the process of making Ballupur a station was initiated by Haji Ismail khan, Mullaji Abdurrhaman khan Sarpanch, Mehndi hassan Khan, Rashid Khan ,Risaldar Murtaza Ali khan & Ballu. These people have run into the corridors of power to get the due sanction. Finally the station was sanctioned with the efforts of Janab Sultan Alam Khan, Dy Minister UP Govt and in the year 1960..Later on Murtaza Ali Khan,Ali mohammed Khan and latif khan through abdul ali Khan , Aiyyapur met Sultan alam Khan. The delegation was apprised of the approval of Rly Station and then survey/etc. related works was assigned to Mr. ballu as he lived near the Rly Station.

It is a merely a coincidence that the name of Our Rly Station is on the name of Mr. Ballu( Mr. Vali Mohammed Khan). The fact of the matter is that, it is named on the village near our Rly. station not on Ballu. The whole process took around three years and the first train that haulted on ballupur was in July 1963. The first contract of selling the tickeys was awarded to Haji Ismail Khan .The responsibilty of Selling the tickets was entrusted on syed Shamim. Mr. Ballu used to collect tickets from the pasengers.

Fact no. 2: Mr. Shafi is basically a businessman. He every now and than travells from/to Delhi. Thus along with his business he is also interested in these affairs. Marhoom Mahfooz Ali Khan , ex MP brought sanction from delhi to connect bhargain via Bus to Delhi

The punch line is 'it was a collective team effort'.

  19. Congratulations and best wishes to Mr Bhatti...and the rest for starting the process of dialogue on the development of bhargain. Merely doing lip service for the cause of development will achieve nothing. Changes are not made overnight. It is always a long term process. We do not need to do big things. We just need to do whatever we could in our own way by taking small steps. Talking and organizing something without much groundwork will lead to nothing. I hope all like minded people wherever they are should work selflessly in their own way towards the cause.
    Just do.................................

  28. It seems that Mr Bhatti's identity is more important to some people commenting on this blog than the core issue of bhargain's development. I am myself least concerned about the identity of Mr bhatti... As long as he is initiating important and interesting topics for discussions, i m more than happy for this initiative of his. i would like to know the good things being done for the development of bhargain.... let us not talk of past again and again

  34. hi , this is Hafiz ali Khan

    Dear Bhatti,
Salaam , I am feeling great to post my comment as a bhatti at this blog.
It is really a great beginning for all of us to share our ideas in this manner and I do agree with you in lot of things except few.
First of all I would like to humbly request you not to bifurcate your ideas between literate and illiterate better you differentiate between educated and uneducated as education denotes bigger view than literacy, every individual who understand the society rationally can be called educated. And it is always better to educate the uneducated then to differentiate.
Secondly I would say "Words has the real power if they are executed else they are like air in air "
I have read many bhatti’s comment in this blog. It is good to have open session , but being biased to anything or anybody won’t serve the purpose of this blog.

You have mentioned that criticism is welcome and good but dear only criticism for the shake of criticism is heartbreaking for any society .

At Last , it is not at all fruitful to stick on what literate or illiterate has done for our village its new era and we should discuss what we can do for our society with what ever capacity we have . But in doing we should always admire and praise those who have done something or are doing or trying to do something for the welfare of our society.

I hope this blog is used by all of us in a constructive manner and not for the purpose of allegation and counter allegation. We should consolidate our ideas for fruitful goals.
These are only my suggestions and ideas put forward not to counter or criticize you but for the betterment of this blog and ultimately for the bhatties.

Disclosing your identity is better for transparent discussion.

    Khuda hafiz

Dear bhatti we all should know what we all are thinking and want to do .
I would Suggest not to remove the comment of any of the person so that healthy environment may be created in this blog else the basic purpose of this blog i.e. open forum for all of us will not be served .
Again I would say we all should know what we all are thinking and writing.
